Language Education Open Project
The Fulbright Specialist Program (FSP) is seeking a highly qualified professional to serve as a Specialist for a
29-day project, ‘Building Pedagogical Methods and Skills for Teaching Hindi’ to take place in India.
The Fulbright Specialist Program (FSP), part of the larger Fulbright Program, was established in 2001 by the
U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The program pairs highly
qualified U.S. academics and professionals with host institutions abroad to share their expertise,
strengthen institutional linkages, hone their skills, gain international experience, and learn about other
cultures while building capacity at their overseas host institutions. Grant benefits include international
round-trip economy class airfare, transit allowance, all applicable visa fees, a daily honorarium, enrollment
in a limited health benefits program, lodging, meals, and in-country transportation.

Project Title: ‘Building Pedagogical Methods and Skills for Teaching Hindi’ (P005131)
Proposed Timeframe: December 1 to December 29, 2023, with flexibility pending the selected applicant’s
availability.

Project Description:
The Ministry of External Affairs asked the University to develop a curriculum for teaching Hindi language
and literature to international students. While these courses have been prepared and submitted to the
MEA, however, the University would like to further the program’s academic objectives by building its
educational resources (tools, techniques, practices, technology, etc.). That said, the institution seeks a
Specialist with expertise in the field of language teaching to strengthen the new Hindi program’s
pedagogical base.
Project Activities:
- Evaluate and Modify the course curriculum for international students pursuing Hindi studies
- Identify and procure relevant learning resources for the new curriculum
- Streamline the learning process of the new curriculum to include (1) model lectures, (2) language
exercises, (3) language games, (4) presentations, and (5) group activities - Provide faculty with training on innovative language teaching and laboratory methods and techniques
- Lead awareness workshops and interactive programs for faculty
- Train participants in ICT technologies for the new curriculum
- Develop a new Faculty Manual on language teaching and acquisition
Preferred Qualifications
The Host Institution seeks a Specialist with Lvl 4 (Full Professional Proficiency) Hindi linguistic abilities and
ample experience, knowledge, and research into the field of Hindi linguistic teaching/research.
