    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Department of Asian Studies at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, invites applicants for a non-tenure-track faculty position in Hindi language instruction, with a secondary focus on South Asian languages and cultures, beginning in Fall 2022, with possibility of annual renewal. This position offers full benefits and a competitive salary and will be filled at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor.Responsibilities include teaching introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate courses in Hindi (three courses per semester), as assigned, along with supporting duties related to the study of South Asian languages and cultures. Applicants who have native or near-native fluency in Hindi and hold a Master’s degree in Teaching Hindi as a Foreign Language or related fields of language pedagogy are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of one or more additional South Asian languages is preferred and the ability to teach a non-language course on South Asian culture is also preferred. Candidates who have ABD or Ph.D. status at time of application, experience with communicative and standards-based methodologies, or program-building experience such as supervision or curriculum development will be given special consideration and should highlight these qualifications in their application materials.Successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or be able to describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
